The
Holliwell Bridge is a fun place to stop when you're in Winterset, especially if you've seen the movie The Bridges of Madison County. It was built in 1880 and remains in its original site over the Middle River. At 122-feet long, it's the longest covered bridge in Iowa. There's a parking area not far from the bridge and some short trails that lead down to the river.
