Cascade Falls Aquatic Center in Ankeny has a great area for little kids, a lazy river and several water slides. It's very popular and can be quite crowded. If you're looking for a more relaxed pool experience, I recommend going to Prairie Ridge instead, especially if you have young kids.
Today was the first time my boys were able to ride around the lazy river by themselves, which they were so excited about. The minimum height is 48" for waterslides and the lazy river.
The concession stand offers pretty standard items. My kids' favorite is the $3.75 pizza and soda special (the pizza is from Papa John's). If you eat at the concession stand, I recommend going around half past because pool breaks are on the hour and you'll wait a long time in line. Outside food and drink is technically not allowed, however bags are not checked and I see many people eating food they brought in.
