DMACC in Ankeny has a 1.2 mile paved trail around Lake Future. The easiest place to park is near the Iowa Culinary Institute. Even when classes are in session, there's plenty of spaces at the end of the parking lot near the trail.
I recommend going in the morning, so you can have breakfast at Cafe Diem. Their pancakes and hashbrowns are excellent. They serve breakfast until 1 pm and the paved trail will take you there.
