Christiansen Forest Preserve in Huxley is a great place to hike. It's a mix of grassy prairie trails and wooded dirt trails. There's a seasonal portable restroom in the parking area.
Please note, the northernmost trail is currently closed with barriers on both ends to alert you (due to a tree falling on the bridge). Our hike today totaled 1.1 miles and we saw a lot of pretty purple wildflowers.
3/22/25 Update: There's a new bridge and all the trails are now open.
