Herbert Hoover National Historic Site includes a Vistor's Center and walking tour. The Visitor's Center shows a 12-minute biographical video and the walking tour includes Hoover's birthplace cottage, where he lived for his first four years.
The tour also includes a blacksmith shop, Hoover's schoolhouse and the Quaker meetinghouse where young Herbert worshiped. My kids were intrigued to see that men and women were separated.
From the historic site, it's a short walk to the Presidential Library and Museum. You can also take a longer walk in the tallgrass prairie to see the gravesite of President and Mrs. Hoover.
