The National River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque is an excellent family friendly activity. Tickets are a 2-day pass, so we visited the museum on both Saturday and Sunday, which was very convenient.
My boys really enjoyed the museum and asked if we could get a family membership, which we likely would if we lived closer. Their favorite parts were the water play areas and seeing the otters.
They also really enjoyed the Fenelon Place play elevator. It was fun to ride the real elevator after visiting the museum.
